Retirement Announcement of Ghazey Aleck

This will be my last week at Aleck and Jenkins. On May 1st, 2023 I will be officially retired. I will not be giving up my license to practice but I will not be working full-time at Aleck and Jenkins nor will I compete against the firm. I may consult a bit. I may also assist Anthony on any leftover matters as well if he needs me.

But this is it. My wife retired from teaching last year, so I think it is time to enjoy time with my wife of 37 years, my two children and their spouses, and my three grandchildren as well as pursue other interests I otherwise did not have time to pursue.

Even so, I started this firm in 1986. I have completed 37 years of practicing law. My partner Anthony Jenkins joined the firm some 24 years ago and quickly became a partner.

Together we built a firm with a solid reputation of fighting for father's rights and defending people charged with a crime. We expanded to 4 attorneys in three locations.

I personally wish to thank all of my clients. My office was in Clare for 25 years and I made a good living in which to raise my family and it was my privilege to help my neighbors, family, friends and people I grew up with when they were in need of my services. Thank you for your trust.

We moved our main office to Midland in 2013 and have satellite offices in Ithaca and Harrison.

I have full confidence that my partner Anthony Jenkins and our attorneys at our other offices will take care of your legal needs.

I want to thank Anthony Jenkins for being a great partner all these years. I could rely on Anthony completely and I know that you can as well going forward.

Even though I am retiring, Aleck and Jenkins Law Firm is still the place to call for high quality legal services.

Having procedural issues with a Friend of the Court?

There is a grievance procedure. Procedures and operations only though. You don't get to question a ruling with a grienvace.

The formal grievance procedure is for parties dissatisfied with the friend of the court's (FOC) operations or employees. The grievance procedure requires a grievance to first be filed with the county FOC office. The grievance can be prepared on a grievance form or in a letter that is clearly labeled "grievance." The FOC director or designee must respond to the grievance within 30 days or provide a reason for the delay in response.

If a party is not satisfied with the office's response, they may submit the original grievance and the FOC's response to the chief judge for the circuit court for a review. The chief judge must respond to the grievance within 30 days or provide a reason for the delay in response.

Grievances can only address a FOC office's operations, procedures, or employees. The FOC grievance process cannot be used for issues under a judge's control, such as a court order or the outcome of a court hearing.

The grievance process is only available to parties to a FOC case.
