Wishing all the moms a beautiful Mother’s Day 🌻

I was blessed to be a dog mom for years and to have had my pack with me from pregnancy until the last year. They taught me and prepared me for motherhood, and I became a mom to the best little boy, one I prayed for and who was truly a miracle.

Motherhood is a selfless and beautiful journey, and it’s been my favorite chapter in life. (Dog and human)

Dakota Rose, my best girl for ten years. She was a dog that everyone would have given up on. But, I would have chosen to take her in time and time again. She showed me a purpose and love I never knew possible. 10/9/2025

Pet custody is changing in Massachusetts. The courts are setting new standards for ownership and custody, and how they can make judgements. While this is setting new precedent and is wonderful, it can also be more stressful for pet owners who don’t want to lose the remaining time they may have.

Mediation for pet custody will always be the best option for 99% of cases with owners who love the pet, even if they dislike each other. We will unapologetically let owners know that setting aside their ego/feelings is a far better option than letting the court decide.

With the new court standards, the mediation agreements we draft will be a binding and enforceable contract. (The fear of an agreement not being followed can be set aside knowing their will be penalties)

If you are seeking shared ownership, joint ownership, or visitation agreements, mediate. Avoid the court dates, the time missed with your pet, and high costs; avoid the gamble of losing more than what you would have coming to the table.

This practice was started for pets, and our journey will never steer away from that.

My love for the Christmas spirit might trump that of Buddy the Elf. So, it goes without saying that my son’s Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas time staple.

But, shared parenting can make this simple tradition, an absolute nightmare. I promise, it does not need to be a moment of stress. Keep it simple and keep the magic alive.

Our elf’s travel portal has been a great addition to this time of year, but don’t think Santa would be opposed to two elves or even an elf pet to report back.

Don’t miss the moments you can’t get back.

Don’t have conflict arise because you are two different parents. One parent may be over the top with celebrations, like myself, and the other may be more relaxed.

The season of holidays and special moments.

There is no easy way to transition into sharing holidays, enjoying the memory making during your parenting time, having the fear that you may miss out on something. This is a seriously hard time for most parents.
🌻
The goal when creating the parenting plan is to ensure that each party is comfortable (as can be) with how events and holidays are shared, when parties are amicable designing joint holiday/event plans, and ensuring the children do not miss these special times with each parent.
🌻
Some useful tips:
-if you can be present together, Trick or Treat together
-need to be separate: alternate each year, but include a Trunk or Treat
-let your child(ren) do all the fall adventures twice if that means each Party can get the experience
-try not to split actual days, unless it’s necessary, because that is A LOT of driving for child(ren).
-think about alternating Thanksgiving and Easter if they are not of great importance.
-we have developed a great Christmas schedule we will share later this season

We will work out as many schedules and ideas as we can to ensure these moments are had.
