• Establish and maintain the standards of the profession by fostering and encouraging continuing education and research to all graduate Anesthesiologist Assistants and enrolled students of accredited programs.
• Represent the interests of the profession
• Initiate and cultivate relationships with other organizations of health care providers.
• Instill confidence in the public by adhering to established ethical norms and legal constraints
• Encouraging the skilled and compassionate practice of anesthesia with respect for human dignity and the rights of patients in their care

AAAA was proud to represent the CAA profession at ASA ANESTHESIOLOGY 2026.

Throughout the meeting, our leaders and advocacy team engaged in important conversations with ASA leaders, state anesthesiology societies, committee members, and other partners about CAA practice, workforce growth, legislative and regulatory priorities, and the future of physician-led anesthesia care.

We also had valuable opportunities to educate attendees about the CAA profession, strengthen relationships across the anesthesiology community, and highlight the important role CAAs play within the Anesthesia Care Team.

Partnership was a major theme throughout the weekend. We are grateful for AAAA’s longstanding relationship with ASA and the continued collaboration that supports physician-led anesthesia care and the advancement of the CAA profession.

We were equally proud to spend time with our AA Partner Organizations, AAAEP, NCCAA, and ARC-AA. Our organizations each serve distinct roles within the profession, and our close collaboration helps strengthen the CAA community through advocacy, education, accreditation, certification, and professional engagement.

Our AA Partner Organizations social was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate those relationships, reconnect with colleagues, and continue building on the shared work that moves the profession forward.

Thank you to everyone who connected with us throughout ANESTHESIOLOGY 2026. We are excited to carry these conversations and partnerships forward.

Legislative victories are worth celebrating, but the work doesn't stop when a bill passes. Continued advocacy is essential to protecting progress, strengthening practice rights, and expanding opportunities for CAAs nationwide.

Here are two more examples of AAAA's advocacy in action:
🏛️ Tennessee (2025): After years of advocacy, Tennessee passed CAA licensure legislation, creating a pathway for CAAs to practice in another state. AAAA invested approximately $150,000 in lobbying efforts over three years to help achieve this victory. With the regulatory process still underway, continued efforts remain important to bringing CAA practice to Tennessee.
🏛️ South Carolina (2025): Although CAAs had been licensed in South Carolina for years, AAAA continued advocating to improve practice conditions. After a four-year effort and approximately $204,000 in lobbying investments, the state increased the anesthesiologist-to-CAA supervision ratio from 1:2 to 1:4, aligning it with other states where CAAs are licensed.

Together, these victories represent approximately $354,000 in lobbying investments and demonstrate the sustained commitment required to advance the CAA profession.

Expanding CAA practice doesn't happen overnight. It takes years of advocacy, collaboration, and sustained financial investment to turn legislative efforts into real opportunities for CAAs.

Through AAAA's advocacy efforts, we've helped achieve important victories for the CAA profession, including:
🏛️ Virginia (2025): Secured CAA licensure, expanding opportunities for CAAs to practice in another state. AAAA invested approximately $78,000 in lobbying efforts.
🏛️ Washington (2024): Achieved CAA licensure, marking a major milestone for the profession in the Pacific Northwest. AAAA invested approximately $139,000 in lobbying efforts.
🏛️ Nevada (2023): Helped advance CAA licensure legislation, strengthening the profession's presence on the West Coast. AAAA invested approximately $39,000 in lobbying efforts.

Together, these three victories represent approximately $256,000 in lobbying investments by AAAA, demonstrating the resources and commitment required to advance our profession.
