Co-Founding and Name Partner Greg O’Brien secured a $1 million policy-limits settlement for three Vermont plaintiffs injured in Florida by a drunk driver from Connecticut last week. ⚖️

The case presented a complex choice-of-law issue between Florida, Connecticut, and Vermont, who all treat treat punitive damages differently. To protect every available avenue of recovery, Attorney Mikayla Pieksza drafted a 135-page complaint asserting negligence and recklessness claims under all three states’ laws.

That strategy helped bring the carrier to the table, where it ultimately tendered the defendant’s full $1 million policy limits.

Founding partner Greg O’Brien recently secured a $475,000 settlement for an elderly client who suffered a non-displaced left leg fracture when an oil truck turned left in front of her vehicle at an intersection, causing a collision.

The defendant oil company denied responsibility, claiming that our client was speeding and that it was her actions behind the wheel that were the primary cause of the collision. However, our investigation uncovered an eyewitness who placed the blame for the accident squarely on the oil truck driver.

Soon thereafter, the oil truck company’s insurance company agreed to submit the case to mediation where attorney O’Brien obtained a sizeable award of $475,000 for a very deserving client.

Attorney Brett Gorman secured a $577,500 settlement for the estate of a client who tragically lost her life in a multifamily house fire.

Our investigation uncovered serious alleged fire-code and safety failures, including inadequate fire detection, unsafe and obstructed exits, and failures relating to required inspections. The firm pursued claims against both the landlord and the municipality.

After more than two years of litigation, multiple depositions, and three mediations, Attorney Gorman secured a substantial recovery for our client’s estate.

The result: $577,500 and accountability for a devastating, preventable loss.
