A lot of renters think the rental relationship ends when they return the keys. But when there is a security deposit involved, the most important part may happen after move-out.
That's when deadlines start running. That's when the landlord may send a claim letter. That's when your photos, receipts, and letters start to matter.
So don't disappear after you move out.
Keep checking your mail. Check your email and spam folder. Save your move-out photos. Keep proof that you returned the keys. Track your deposit deadlines. Respond in writing if you disagree with a claim.
The mistake is thinking, "I'm done." You may be done living there, but your deposit still needs protecting.
If you moved out and your deposit still hasn't been returned, our team can help you figure out what to check next.
