McLuskey, McDonald & Hughes, PA. hosted a food drive at our office for the Southridge High School Food Pantry. Many nonperishable food items were collected from employees, clients, neighbors and friends. Boxes for the collection were placed in the MMH lobby as well as a sign on the front door of the office in order to promote and encourage participants in the food drive. The collection was picked up this morning and we are pleased to have participated in such a worthy cause and want to thank all of our employees, clients, neighbors and friends who also joined in this food drive for the less fortunate here in Miami. SPA DAY FOR JUSTICE: Just to alert our friends and neighbors, our dog Justice has faithfully greeted visitors and passersby for many years since the time of Pinecrest’s “Smart Dogs for Smart Schools” initiative. Well, the Florida sunshine has taken its toll on Justice and so he will be leaving for a little while for a well-deserved Spa Day. After visiting for a few weeks with his designer, Dan Bondroff (pictured herein), for a makeover, Justice will return soon looking refreshed and better than ever! After a long hard-fought trial, we are pleased to announce that the jury rendered a fair verdict of Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($2,500,000.00) in favor of our clients, the Poppenhagers, whose matriarch, Connie Poppenhager, suffered a serious cognitive brain injury on the first day she was admitted to a local assisted living facility. The jury found the facility totally responsible for the incident even though Connie had been previously diagnosed with dementia. Congratulations to the whole trial team: Jack McLuskey, John Hughes, Donna Christ, who handled computer technology, paralegal Fran Hudson, who handled all of the trial exhibits during trial and assistant, Claudia Campuzano. Pictured herein are the client’s representatives, Donna Poppenhager and the client’s grandson, DJ Barbosa, along with Jack McLuskey and John Hughes of the firm. For 15 consecutive years McLuskey, McDonald & Hughes, P.A. has proudly sponsored Legal Services of Greater Miami. The 15th Annual “Heart of Giving” Celebration & Reception occurred on May 16, 2024, and honored Jaret L. Davis, Esquire, who received the 2024 Equal Justice Leadership Award, and David Lawrence Jr., who received the 2024 Equal Justice Humanitarian Leadership Award. McLuskey, McDonald & Hughes, P.A. congratulates the recipients and further congratulates Legal Services for a well-planned event. Our law firm proudly supports the Falmouth Road Race organization in its commitment to promoting health and fitness through community programs and philanthropic charitable giving. Photographed participating in this year’s Race in Falmouth, Cape Cod are MM&H team members Jack McLuskey, Cami Van Ness and Jaime Van Ness. Seven miles was the distance (with hills) and we are happy to report that our entire team finished the race with good times posted. Team Captain, Jaime Van Ness, said at the race’s conclusion that “the course was easier this year due to the unusually cool weather.” (Good job Jaime).

The 2022 Equal Justice Leadership Awards were presented to The Honorable Cecilia Altonaga, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and first-ever female chief judge in the history of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, The Honorable Michael Hanzman, Circuit Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court, and The Honorable Nushin Sayfie, Chief Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court, for their pursuit of justice. In addition, Chairman Jose “Pepe” Diaz and Commissioner Sally Heyman of the Miami-Dade County Commission were honored with the Equal Justice Public Service Awards. McLuskey, McDonald & Hughes’ employees, family and friends all participated in the 2022 Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run, one of the largest 5K races in the nation held in downtown Miami. McLuskey, McDonald & Hughes’ traditional run photos were taken at the race and also at Monty’s in the Grove after the race in celebration of those who finished strong!
