At 17, Carmen Allen Day stood in a New Jersey courtroom facing probation and told the judge she dreamed of going to college and becoming a lawyer.

Years later, after finishing community college, graduating from Rutgers, and continuing her journey through law school, Day was just one semester away from making that dream real.
