SEPTEMBER 2026: BY THE NUMBERS.

Our clients faced 2 life sentences, 299.5 years in prison, and 16 years of minimum mandatory time.

This is what happened instead:

🔹 A man charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, six counts of resisting with violence, and a fi***rm count was facing 50 years and mandatory prison. Case dismissed.
🔹 A client charged with two counts of sale and two counts of possession with intent was facing 60 years. The State dropped it after we filed a motion to dismiss, and the companion felony case was never filed.
🔹 A young man facing 22.5 years on five counts, including discharging a fi***rm in public and tampering with evidence: we filed a motion to dismiss. All five counts dismissed.
🔹 A client charged with burglary with battery was facing life in prison. He walked out with probation.

28 cases closed. 16 dismissed. 5 clients diverted out of the system entirely.

These aren’t just numbers. They’re people, families and futures. Every one of these cases started with a phone call from someone who was scared and didn’t know what came next.

A special day for the Miami-Dade legal community as Judge Rohaidy celebrated his judicial investiture.

Jaime Lapidus and Diego Merino proudly represented Piotrowski Law at today’s ceremony. Chad Piotrowski sent his warmest regards but was handling a federal sentencing at the same time—the practice of law never stops. He was glad members of the team could be there to celebrate this well-deserved occasion.

33 cases closed in August. 25 dismissed. One went to prison.

Our clients walked into August facing 422 years, one life sentence, and 53 years of minimum mandatory time. 76% of those cases were dismissed outright — no trial, no plea, no record.

Every prison year on this board came from one case.

We handle the most serious and complex cases in the criminal justice system. That one client was looking at 30 years to life — the bottom right corner of the federal sentencing table, the worst square on the grid. It doesn’t get any more serious than that.

Our track record of avoiding prison and getting cases dismissed speaks for itself — and with the volume we handle and the severity it carries, it’s expected to see a prison number from time to time.

We don’t hide from it. We celebrate saving a client from the life sentence he was otherwise facing.

It’s hard for some people to see that as a win. But the battle-tested warriors out there know exactly what it means.

Can you travel while your criminal case is pending? Usually yes — but it depends.

Domestic travel is generally not the problem. International travel is where people get in trouble. Depending on whether it’s a misdemeanor or a felony, state or federal, we may need to file a motion for permission to travel — dates, itinerary, when you leave, when you’re back — and get a court order before you go.

Don’t book the trip and hope. Ask first.

"Diversion is not a favor anyone hands out, and it is not automatic," a spokesperson for the firm said. "The State Attorney's Office decides who gets in, and that call often gets made before arraignment. Attorneys who have worked in that office know what a screener looks at when the file lands on the desk. A case that qualifies on paper still gets turned down when nobody puts the client's side of it in front of the right person early enough."
