I urge all of you to remember that early voting in the runoff election for Miami Lakes Mayor will take place tomorrow and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mary Collins Community Center (15151 NW 82nd Avenue Miami Lakes, Fl 33016). I also urge all of you to support Manny Cid for Mayor of Miami Lakes.

I was not with Manny in the first round, but to do what is right for our town I am supporting him in the runoff. Manny genuinely cares about Miami Lakes and will help steer our town away from the dirty politics that has reared its ugly head in only the last few years. Thank you.

Dear Facebook friends,

I may have left the race for mayor, but that does not mean the race for our town’s future is over. Many of you have asked me whom I support in the upcoming elections. After much prayer, consideration, and reflection I have decided to support the following candidates:

For Mayor of Miami Lakes – Wayne Slaton
For Council Member, Seat 1 – Nelson Rodriguez
For Council Member, Seat 3 – Tony Lama for Miami Lakes Town Council
For Council Member, Seat 5 – Luis Collazo

All of these candidates have long histories of public service in the Miami Lakes community. I have worked with all these outstanding individuals and know that they will continue to work for the betterment of our town while holding themselves to the highest ethical standards.

Specifically, I have seen Mayor Slaton put in countless hours toward making the Miami Lakes we know and love a reality and cast aside his ego time and again to work with his colleagues on solutions to our problems and not serve some grand ambition. I have seen council members Nelson Rodriguez and Tony Lama lead the way on traffic relief by organizing state and local officials to put together a comprehensive transportation plan, pushing for the implementation of a new synchronized lighting system, and more. I have also seen Luis Collazo work tirelessly and passionately to improve the lives of our elder residents—efforts that have been rewarded with countless community and town awards.

I humbly ask you to join me in voting for these candidates this November and that you show your support by liking and sharing this post.

Sincerely,

Ceasar Mestre Jr.

Dear f.b friends and supporters. This is my last post for the Mestre for Mayor campaign. This past week when I found out a technicality may keep me from qualifying for Mayor, to my surprise my first reaction was elation. I called my wife and told her I might be able to join her on our family summer vacation that was occurring without me. I felt I needed to continue campaigning and stayed behind. This reaction really surprised me because the number one thing for the last year, has been my campaign for Mayor . It made me refelect of telling my six year old daughter, daily, can't go in the pool , I need to campaign. The other missed family trips, birthday parties, school activities, movies, I haven't been attending more and more because of the campaign. I have always said my most important title is "dad", yet it was becoming less important. When you are competitive, it's easy to get caught up in the campaign and lose perspective. I kept saying only until November, but should I win, and become Mayor , it would only be worse.
Unfortunately, in Miami Lakes, what was intended to be a part time position "Mayor" has turned into a more than full time position , as future political ambitions, dictate the rhythm. To some, this may be o.k. To me it's not. I have been blessed with a good career and a great family. The price to pay for this endeavor is something I am unwilling to give. I have observed what this can do to families and most times , it's not a good result. I believe actions speak much louder than words.
So I have decided not to continue with this campaign. This has not been an easy decision. So many supporters and friends. So I hope you understand. My intentions are to continue to represent the residents of Miami Lakes until my term expires in 2018 and continue to do what I think is best. The pictures below were taken yesterday. As you can see I decided to join the family vacation in Canada after all. I know a lot of you care and want to speak to me, but this would defeat the whole purpose. I hope you understand.

The news coming out of Dallas this morning is unbelievable. My heart goes out to my Dallas brothers in blue and their families. Please keep the dead, the injured, and their families in your thoughts and prayers today and let this be a reminder that our police officers are always putting their lives on the line for us each and every day.

Did you know? I was a police officer for over seven years before going to law school at the University of Miami and in that time achieved the position of Special Detective. Public safety has always been a priority for me and will continue to be a priority for me as mayor. By the way, did you know I had hair?
