Forte dei Marmi — Ocean Drive at First.
Named for the Tuscan seaside town two hours west of
Florence. The original opened in Bal Harbour in 2015.
The South of Fifth outpost came later and quietly became
the one — a block from Joe's Stone Crab, three blocks
from Continuum, the kind of Sunday lunch that runs into
dinner.
You'll see the same tables reserved the same way most
weeks. Italian first, English if you need it. Kids at
the table, dogs at the door.
The Italian core of the neighborhood — Forte, Casa Tua, Il Mulino, Milos, Carbone — is one of the reasons buyers from Milan, São Paulo, Buenos Aires and New York keep
choosing South of Fifth over anywhere else in Miami Beach.
It eats like a small European town that happens to sit
on the Atlantic.
