Yesterday, we were honored to present Francisco Patino a Civilan Life Saving Award on behalf of the Plantation Police Department for his heroic actions.

On February 28th officers responded to the 7200 block of W. Sunrise Blvd. in reference to a traffic crash that just occurred. While en-route, dispatch advised that the vehicle involved crashed into a concrete pole and was now igniting. Upon officers arrival, the vehicle was visibly burning and several citizens were actively attempting to assist the driver.

Mr. Patino reached into the burning car and managed to unbuckle the drivers seatbelt. These quick actions allowed Mr. Patino to get the driver out of the burning car and moved to a safe location for subsequent medical treatment. The driver was transported to the hospital where, despite suffering significant injuries, he is expected to recover.

There is no doubt that Mr. Patino’s actions were directly responsible for saving the drivers life.

HER “KNIGHTS IN SHINING ARMOR”

These Coral Gables Police Officers came to the aid of one of our beloved seniors who was under great stress after leaving her car keys and her belongings inside her locked car. I witnessed firsthand the care, comfort and understanding these men in blue with hearts of gold showed her. Not only did these heroes help unlock her car so she could access it but they also made sure she made it home safely. God bless the heroes that make up the CGPD!
