🌎 UPDATE | Proposed change to DV Green Card (Diversity Green Card Lottery) program

🇺🇸 The U.S. Department of State is making changes to the Diversity Visa Lottery (Green Card Lottery). If you plan to apply for the next lottery (DV-2027), here are the key updates you should know:

📌 Valid passport required
Applicants must have a valid, unexpired passport at the time of applying.

🛂 Passport information and upload
You must enter your passport information and upload the passport page that includes your photo when submitting the application.

💳 $1 registration fee
A $1 registration fee will be required when submitting the entry.

📝 Form terminology change
The application form will now use “sex” instead of “gender.”

📅 Implementation timeline
These new rules were recently published and are expected to go into effect around April 10–11, 2026. The official visa lottery registration dates should be announced soon, and the next entry period will likely open after mid-April 2026.

🇺🇸 Il “SAVE Act” e il diritto di voto negli Stati Uniti 🗳️

Negli Stati Uniti è in discussione il SAVE Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act) 📜, proposta sostenuta da Donald Trump che introdurrebbe l’obbligo di prova documentale della cittadinanza 🆔 al momento della registrazione al voto federale.

La misura si inserisce in un clima di crescente attenzione alla sicurezza elettorale 🔎.
I sostenitori la considerano necessaria per prevenire il voto di non cittadini.
I critici temono invece un possibile impatto sull’accesso effettivo al suffragio ⚖️.

Sul piano costituzionale 📖, il diritto di voto è regolato entro i limiti del XIV e XV Emendamento. La Supreme Court of the United States ha riconosciuto la legittimità di requisiti di identificazione ragionevoli, purché non producano discriminazioni o oneri eccessivi.

Il nodo centrale diventa quindi la proporzionalità ⚖️:
il rafforzamento dell’integrità elettorale giustifica l’eventuale aggravio amministrativo?

🇺🇸 USA: possibile sospensione temporanea dei visti di immigrazione

L’amministrazione statunitense ha annunciato l’intenzione di sospendere temporaneamente le procedure di rilascio dei visti di immigrazione per cittadini provenienti da circa 75 Paesi, nell’ambito di una vasta revisione delle politiche migratorie in corso presso il Dipartimento di Stato.

La misura, che potrebbe entrare in vigore nei prossimi giorni, riguarderebbe principalmente i visti per l’immigrazione permanente, con possibili rallentamenti o sospensioni delle pratiche già avviate. Al momento, non è previsto un blocco generalizzato dei visti temporanei (turistici, di studio o per affari), anche se non si escludono controlli più rigorosi in futuro.

Secondo fonti governative, l’obiettivo sarebbe rafforzare i meccanismi di verifica e sicurezza, riducendo i rischi legati a ingressi considerati insufficientemente controllabili. Se attuata, la sospensione potrebbe causare ritardi significativi per migliaia di persone coinvolte in percorsi di ricongiungimento familiare o stabilizzazione negli Stati Uniti, con possibili ripercussioni anche sul piano diplomatico.

🇮🇹 Nuova normativa antiriciclaggio nel real estate USA 🇺🇸

Dal 1° marzo 2026 entrerà in vigore una nuova normativa federale emanata dalla Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), che introduce nuovi obblighi di segnalazione per alcune operazioni immobiliari residenziali negli Stati Uniti.

🏠 La Residential Real Estate Rule si applica ai trasferimenti immobiliari non finanziati (come gli acquisti in contanti) quando l’acquirente è una società o un trust, con l’obiettivo di aumentare la trasparenza e contrastare il riciclaggio di denaro.

📌 La regola supera il sistema delle precedenti Geographic Targeting Orders (GTOs), introducendo un meccanismo di segnalazione permanente valido su tutto il territorio nazionale.

🚨 FLASH NEWS – New Driver’s License Rules for Visa Holders in Florida 🚨

Florida has introduced a new measure that is already impacting thousands of temporary visa holders across the state. Effective immediately, all driver’s licenses and ID cards for non-immigrants will have a maximum validity of ONE year, regardless of the actual visa duration shown on USCIS documents.

🔹 What’s changing?
Previously, visa holders with H-1B, L-1, E-2, O-1, J-1, and other temporary categories could obtain multi-year licenses aligned with their I-94 or USCIS approval notice.
Now, the FLHSMV will issue licenses only up to one year, forcing an annual renewal even for long-term visa holders.

🔹 Why this change?
Florida officials claim the policy aligns with REAL ID requirements and allows periodic verification of lawful status.
In practice, it marks a significant departure from previous procedures and adds more administrative burdens for legal residents.
