Elder care in Massachusetts has gotten so expensive that a lot of families just can't make it work anymore. Nursing homes, assisted living, it's out of reach for a lot of people.

What Tom Loosigan explained in this conversation hit close to home for a lot of the families I work with: if mom or dad has been in their house for 50 years, they've got equity. That equity can fund a small ADU on your property, and instead of a condo or a facility, they're living right next door to you.

That's aging in place. That's keeping family together. And in Massachusetts right now, the new law actually makes this easier than it's ever been. We’re slowly seeing a shift toward multi-generational living.
