🌟 ARIZONA NONPROFIT FORMATION — STEP 1
Is your nonprofit name available?
Your organization’s name introduces its mission to the community—but before becoming attached to it, confirm that it can be used.
Start by:
🔎 Searching the Arizona Corporation Commission’s entity database
✅ Confirming the name is distinguishable from existing names
✍️ Checking the exact spelling, wording and corporate identifier
🛡️ Considering potential trade-name and trademark conflicts
📌 Deciding whether an optional name reservation makes sense
Adding punctuation, changing capitalization or replacing “and” with “&” generally will not make a proposed name distinguishable. An ACC name-availability determination also does not automatically establish trademark rights.
A name reservation is optional and is not the same as forming the nonprofit. The organization is created by filing and obtaining approval of its Articles of Incorporation.
