Now, for a limited time, the doors to Mister Morley’s Cabinet of Curiosities will be opened to the public. Make an appointment by calling or stopping by our Children's Floor and examine eight extraordinary creature displays, investigate their mysterious habitats, and discover what may have escaped from the collection before your arrival! Each guest will receive a curious keepsake from the museum’s gift shop. Enter if you dare!

Haunted House Peep Dioramas | Children's Program
Pick up kits between Oct 1 - Oct 15

Calling all creative families! Pick up a Haunted House Peep Diorama kit at the Children’s desk starting Oct. 1, while supplies last. Each kit includes a pizza box and craft supplies to design your very own haunted house using Peeps candies as characters. Return your diorama on or before Oct. 15, and we'll display them in the Children’s department where patrons can vote for their favorite costumes, scenery, and best overall. We can't wait to see your unique designs!

Labor Day is a federal holiday celebrating the achievements of American workers. Labor Day also symbolically marks the end of summer and the beginning of the school year.

The first Labor Day celebration in the United States was held on September 5, 1882 in New York City. It was proposed and sponsored by the Central Labor Union Party as a “workingmen’s holiday.” With the growth of labor organizations throughout the United States, the celebration of Labor Day spread to many industrial centers. Between 1882 and 1894, municipalities and states adopted and enacted ordinances and laws to make Labor Day a holiday.

On June 28, 1894, the 53rd Congress passed bill S.730 (Chapter Law 118) designating the first Monday in September of each year a legal holiday to celebrate and affirm the contributions and accomplishments of the American workforce.
