It was officially established in the United States in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan to honor the lifelong contributions of older Americans, celebrate their wisdom, and raise awareness about issues affecting their well-being and independence

We know our community is buzzing with back-to-school excitement, and with all that excitement comes a little extra traffic, so let’s all slow down and pay attention.

* Keep an eye out for our walkers
* Give our bike riders plenty of room
* Watch for those big yellow buses and remember to stop when required
* And, of course, obey the traffic laws and stay alert

Let’s work together to make sure everyone gets to and from school safely.

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

This has been called "one of the best-known sentences in the English language", containing "the most potent and consequential words in American history". The passage came to represent a moral standard to which the United States should strive. This view was notably promoted by Abraham Lincoln, who considered the Declaration to be the foundation of his political philosophy, and argued that the Declaration is a statement of principles through which the United States Constitution should be interpreted. It provided inspiration to numerous national declarations of independence throughout the world.
