MSP Law Tom also specializes in estate planning and business law. Tom has served hundreds of technology related companies in his 28 years of practice.

Tom and his team function similarly to the way a general counsel team operates at a Fortune 500 company—but specifically for MSPs, focusing on technology-related and general corporate law. Managed Services Providers (MSPs) face many unique issues resulting from the remote management of a customer’s IT infrastructure, especially due to the proactive nature of the services delivered, the method of d

elivery and transmission as well as the subscription model of receiving revenue. In addition, the remote delivery of services over use of interstate wires, crossing state boundaries, involves access to sensitive personally identifiable information and confidential information from third parties, risk of loss from customer inappropriate use of software, copyright Issues and underestimating labor requirements associated with services. Additional pressures exist in the market place due to national private equity group acquisitions in the space. Tom has served as subject matter experts for national peer group organizations, has had many national speaking engagements relating to issues set forth above and has been a featured guest on many dedicated MSP podcasts and MSP Radio programs. Tom’s team has lawyers licensed in multiple jurisdictions and has developed a national network of local attorneys he works with to deliver legal and business consulting services. Tom and his team have worked with Managed Services Providers for two plus decades, modeling the general counsel like function of a Fortune 500 business but only for several MSPs. While other firms provide MSP focused counsel on technology issues, we are not aware of any other team that provides general legal counsel to MSP firms together with the issues that are unique and particular to MSPs. We offer subscription and flat fee billing arrangements too – just like our MSP clients! Tom and his team provide a complete and total general counsel like function for MSP companies – technology related law and general corporate law. Tom and his team provide services to the MSP that a legal department of a large corporation might provide, i.e. IP issues, tax planning, federal compliance with employment law issues, and MSP issues, i.e. MSAs, NIST, PII and federal privacy requirements. If you are an MSP, you have probably used a general business attorney and, perhaps, sought advice from an MSP or technology focused lawyer. Since Tom built a large team, he has the ability to meld both the MSP and technology issues with the general corporate.
