Jeff Bezos keeps an empty chair in Amazon meetings to represent the customer as the most important person in the room. We do the same thing at Greer Injury Lawyers.
Every week, my paralegal and I meet to review cases. There's always an empty chair at the table in my office for our client who can't be there, but whose life depends on the decisions we make in that room.
When we're debating whether to push a case to trial or accept a settlement offer, that chair asks: What does this person actually need to rebuild their life?
When we're preparing for a deposition, that chair reminds us: Someone trusted us with the worst moment of their life.
When we're deciding how aggressively to pursue discovery, that chair demands: Are we doing everything possible to win this case?
The empty chair keeps us honest. It makes sure that every conversation includes legal strategy AND human impact because behind every case file is a real person. Someone who can't work because of their injuries, someone whose medical bills are piling up, someone whose family has been devastated by an unforeseen injury.
CLIENT FIRST is our number one core value. It's not just a sign on the wall. It's a chair at the table. And it has a voice in every decision we make.
