Why, yes! If you have a house that you purchased during a marriage, it has to be disposed of in a divorce. The most common ways are:
1. You agree to sell it and divide the proceeds.
2. One Spouse keeps the house and buys the other out.
Remember, if you keep the house you keep all the bills associated with the house so make sure you can swing it before you go poppin' off about "This MY house!" and can't afford the mortgage and that MLGW Bill. 👀

A lot of people ask me how old their child has to be before they can decide where they want to live. The answer is 18! When a child reaches the age of 12 a Court can consider his or her desires and where they want to live, but that’s where it stops. A Judge will not base a decision exclusively on what a child wants to do. A Court will always do what is in the best interests of a child, and that isn’t always what the child wants. Basically, 12 year olds don’t run anything but their mouths.

I’ve been in Memphis for 10 years, but I’m a Mississippi girl at heart. I’m licensed to practice in both Mississippi and Tennessee. I’ve been practicing in Mississippi for over 20 years, and in Tennessee for 10. This morning I was at this beautiful courthouse closing out some divorces. And, of course, what better way to celebrate giving clients their freedom papers than some scattered and smothered hash browns from my favorite place!?

This is me. At 4:27pm on Thursday. I’m sure that the majority of people think that a lawyer should always present herself as polished and put together and smart and yadda yadda yadda. But. This is me.
I woke up at 4am yesterday because something nagging me about a client’s case wouldn’t let me sleep. So, I started working on it. Then I was in Court in Mississippi by 9. Then I was buying my Grandson books from Target by noon. And at my son’s baseball game by 5. And I was back to work by 10pm.
I’ve been searching for a new brand. A new look. And now I realize that the brand is me. I’m not normally polished. I’m certainly not always put together. But I am always present for people I love. And I always work hard for my clients. And I’m very good at what I do. And sometimes I get tired and lie down at 4:27pm on Thursdays.
I think it’s time that you guys get to know me. Stick around!
