MEMPHIS — The Shelby County Sheriff's Office will conduct two Sobriety Roadside Safety Checkpoints for Memorial Day Weekend on Friday, May 27, 2022. The first checkpoint will be conducted at Hacks Cross S/B N/O Meadowvale 6:00pm-8:00pm. The second checkpoint will be at Shelby Drive W/B @ Long Creek from 9:00pm-11:00pm.

Drunk driving kills. It takes a life every 52 minutes in America. This Memorial Holiday Weekend, we need a team effort from all citizens to make sure everyone drives sober. Officers will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment. They will also target those who operate a vehicle while impaired and take corrective actions for other violations observed while ensuring the protection of all motorists.

MPD to Conduct Sobriety Roadside Checkpoints

MEMPHIS, TN, April 12, 2022 - The City of Memphis Police Department will be conducting Sobriety Roadside Safety Checkpoints on Friday April 22-Saturday April 23, 2022. The checkpoint will be from 8:00PM to 2:00AM.
The first Location will be Wi******er Road near Goodlett Road, and the second location will be Getwell Road near Cochese.

Impaired driving is a serious crime that kills more than 16,000 people and injures 305,000 others every year in the United States.

Officers will evaluate drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment. Officers will also target those who operate a vehicle while impaired and take corrective actions for other violations observed while ensuring the protection of all motorists.

The City of Memphis Police Department recognizes that sobriety checkpoints are highly visible and effective tools in the battle against impaired driving.

This checkpoint is federally funded through a grant with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office.
