August 18, 1920 — A Milestone for Women’s Rights 🇺🇸

On this day in 1920, the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified, declaring that the right to vote could not be denied on the basis of s*x.

The amendment marked a major victory in the decades-long fight for women’s suffrage and changed the course of American democracy. While the 19th Amendment did not immediately guarantee voting access for all women—many women of color continued to face discriminatory barriers—it was an important step forward in the ongoing pursuit of equal rights.

“Votes for Women” became “Votes for All.”

Today, we remember the courage, persistence, and determination of the women who fought for a voice in our democracy—and recognize that the work of expanding access and equality continues.

What a great evening of learning with the Brevard Paralegal Association! ⚖️📚

We were pleased to welcome Miguel Elys, Esq., Immigration Attorney, as our featured speaker for an insightful presentation on strategic workflows, smarter processes, and stronger impact in immigration law.

Our members had the opportunity to gain practical insight into immigration proceedings, administrative data hygiene, federal immigration authorities, generative AI and ethics, paralegal boundaries, and lessons from federal litigation.
