Publix is reportedly rolling out its latest innovation in grocery shopping: Self-Checkout Roundabouts.

And naturally, Brevard County has been selected as the first testing market.

Instead of waiting in a traditional checkout line, shoppers will now enter the roundabout with their cart, maintain a safe shopping speed, and continue circling until an available self-checkout opens up.

Publix says the new system should improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and prepare Brevard residents for the roundabout they'll encounter approximately 45 seconds after leaving the parking lot.

Early testing has been promising, although one shopper has reportedly passed the same BOGO endcap six times and is now legally required to purchase something from it.

Remember: yield to carts already in the roundabout, don't stop suddenly, and if you miss your self-checkout exit, remain calm.

Brevard is getting busier and busier, and apparently our hiking trails are no exception.

To help manage the increasing foot traffic, Brevard County Parks & Recreation has reportedly begun testing a new solution at Wickham Park: trail roundabouts.

Officials say the new dirt roundabouts should improve the flow of hikers during peak hours while also giving Brevard residents some much-needed practice before getting back behind the wheel.

Early reports indicate hikers are adapting well, although several have been circling the same palmetto bush since 8:30 this morning.

Remember: yield to hikers already in the roundabout, signal before exiting, and under no circumstances stop in the middle because you forgot which trail you were taking.

More trail roundabouts could be coming soon if the pilot program is successful.
