Proper tire care prevents crashes. Follow Road Ready Foundation to learn more about how this amazing family is turning loss into purpose in educating young drivers - really all drivers - on proper tire care. We miss Jackson every day โค๏ธ.
February 13, 2023.
That was the day we said our final goodbyes to Jackson.
After 3 days of holding his hand, hoping for a miracle and enjoying his company.
Our Jackson made his walk of Life. Down the filled quiet hallways of the hospital.
Our family led him towards what would become his legacy. Heavy weight on our hearts of having to let go forever that still hasnโt lifted.
It was the day our world really changed forever.
Jackson was an organ donor. He chose to be one when he turned 16. Because of his selfless decision, multiple lives were saved. While we were saying goodbye to our son, other families were being given hope. While our hearts were breaking, someone else was being told their loved one would live and their hearts were mended.
That is who Jackson has always been.
Selfless.
Loyal.
Full of heart.
A proud big brother.
The kind of friend who showed up.
The kind of young man who would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice.
He didnโt stop giving on February 13th.
He continues to give each day.
But here is the truth we will live with every single day:
His crash should never have happened.
And if sharing his story can prevent even one family from getting that phone callโฆ then we will never stop telling it.
That is why the Road Ready Foundation exists.
Tire safety isnโt flashy. It isnโt dramatic. But it is life-saving.
Most families donโt realize that once tread drops below 4/32", tires enter what we call the Danger Zone. Stopping distances increase. Hydroplaning risk skyrockets. Especially for young drivers.
And most people donโt know. Until itโs too late.
One worn tire.
One rainy night.
One moment.
One call that changes everything.
We cannot change what happened on February 13th. But we can change what happens from then.
We can fight to make sure it doesnโt happen to someone else. So another parent doesn't have to tell this story.
Jackson saved lives through organ donation. Now his life is saving lives through awareness, education, and pushing for stronger tire safety standards.
That is his legacy.
We ask each and every one of you to please check your tires. Check your teens cars. Have the conversation. Donโt assume everything is fine. Donโt wait until they are at 2/32". Donโt wait for tragedy to teach the lesson.
Because sometimes saving a life doesnโt happen in a hospital.
Sometimes it happens in your driveway.
We will continue to fight.
For Jackson.
For Us.
For every family that deserves to make it home safely.
And to every person who has stood beside usโฆ who has shared his storyโฆ who has supported Road Ready Foundationโฆ who has prayed, donated, partnered, advocated, and helped push for change, thank you.
Thank you for loving our boy.
Thank you for believing this mission matters.
Thank you for helping turn unimaginable pain into purpose.
We could not do this without you.
Together, we will keep moving this forward. Together, we will save lives.
