When you report a work injury to your employer in Pennsylvania, they — or their insurance company — are supposed to respond by sending you one of three workers’ compensation forms. If your claim is accepted, they will send a Notice of Compensation Payable (NCP). And if it is denied, they will send a Notice of Compensation Denial (NCD).

But, there is also a third option that falls somewhere in between, a Notice of Temporary Compensation Payable (NTCP). If you have not seen one before, this form can be a bit confusing.

A Notice of Temporary Compensation Payable in Pennsylvania grants Workers’ Compensation benefits for up to 90 days during an investigation.

There are some situations in which your Workers’ Compensation benefits could be reduced if you receive additional benefits at the same time. It is important to understand these situations so that you can make informed decisions and are not caught off guard.

If you don't account for these benefit reductions, that could negatively impact your financial plans. It is always a good idea to contact a Workers’ Compensation attorney if you have questions about your case.

Workers’ Compensation benefits can be offset by Social Security (old age), unemployment, pension, and severance benefits.

Cumulative injuries can seem to come out of nowhere. You may think the slight pain you feel constantly is just part of aging, but then one morning you realize the pain is worse than it had been in the past.

When did the pain start? What caused it? Is it something you will just have to live with from now on? If these are the questions you find yourself asking, you may want to consider whether your injury could be a result of your job.

Establishing a cumulative injury Workers’ Compensation case involves identifying your injury and notifying your employer.
