Saddened to hear of the passing of one of my favorite law professors.

I remember one family law class she had a speaker in to encourage us to start our own practices and I thought "I'll never do that!"

Well, look at me now! Thanks always to your encouragement, Professor Failinger, and for providing such a productive environment for debate over public policy and case law.

Mitchell Hamline is saddened to announce the passing of Professor Emerita Marie Failinger at age 73.

She spent more than 40 years in service to Mitchell Hamline and the legal community, including as Hamline University School of Law’s interim dean before its 2015 combination with William Mitchell College of Law.

Her life and legacy will be forever remembered at Mitchell Hamline.
