Social Security Administration gives claimants 4 options to attend a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge. 1. In person (client, attorney, judge appear at the local hearing office. 2. Online Video (client, attorney, judge appear via Microsoft Teams) 3. Video Teleconference (client, attorney appear at local hearing office and usually an out of state judge appears via video) and 4. Telephone (client, attorney and judge attend the hearing on the telephone).

For my clients, I recommend in-person or online video hearings. In-person hearings are best if my client has obvious, visible physical disabilities (i.e. uses a cane or walker). Online videos are best for clients who may suffer with mental health issues like anxiety or depression and prefer not to be in the public or for clients who cannot drive.

Either way, we will help you decide which option is best for you.

Today is my Attorney Anniversay! Twenty-four (24) years ago I was admitted to practice law in the State of North Carolina. Never have I worked as hard, sacrificed as much, or prayed as often for anything as I did for this license. Sometimes I take it for granted. But today as I sit back and think about how BAD I wanted this, I thank God that He has kept me - authentic, grateful and of service. To everyone of my clients (past and present) thank you for allowing me to represent you! If you qualify for your own retirement and spouse’s benefits, SSA will always pay your own benefits first. If your benefit amount as a spouse is higher than your own retirement benefit, you will get a combination of the two benefits that equals the higher amount.
