Topic: The Role of the Ad Litem

Attorney and Guardian ad Litems are both court appointed positions with very different roles in a guardianship. This presentation focuses on some of the similarities in these roles, but primarily focuses on the differences in order to help attorneys fully understand their specific role within a guardianship. While it can be important for the two ad litems to work together, a greater understanding of each attorney's role will ensure that duties are fulfilled, the incapacitated individuals' rights are honored, and reduce confusion in the courtroom.
