Good kids can still make one bad decision that changes the entire day.
🎮 An offhand comment while gaming.
🗣️ A snap back at a bully.
🏚️A group of friends decides to explore a property they think is abandoned.
None of those situations necessarily starts with a child thinking, “I’m about to get arrested.”
That’s exactly the point.
Kids often do not understand how quickly a joke, a threat, a group decision, or something they saw online can move from “no big deal” to school administrators, police, and the juvenile system.
And sometimes, parents do not even know what is happening until after their child has already been questioned.
Kristi Tyler works with families in these exact kinds of situations—and the pattern is worth paying attention to:
Good kid. Bad moment. Very real consequences.
Talk to the kids in your life about what they say online, who they spend time with, and what happens when a “joke” or group decision crosses a line.
