For this client, the stakes extended far beyond the courtroom.

An Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence charge is a Class A misdemeanor under Texas law, carrying potential penalties of up to 1 year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

For non-citizens, a Family Violence conviction can also create serious immigration consequences, making the outcome of the case especially important.

That's why Gonzalo Serrano approached this case with a strategy-first mindset from day one.

The strongest criminal defense strategies don't come from reacting. They come from anticipating challenges, identifying weaknesses in the State's case, and preparing for every possible outcome—including trial.

That preparation paid off.

After a thorough review of the evidence and persistent advocacy on behalf of our client, the result was:

DISMISSED.

👏Excellent work by Gonzalo Serrano.

DESESTIMADO.

👏Excelente trabajo de Gonzalo Serrano.

The headline sounds simple:

Ma*****na users. Gun rights. Supreme Court.

But the legal issue is much bigger.

This case was really about how far the government can go before proving the facts.

The Court did not say every gun-and-drug case goes away.

It said the government cannot rely on a scary label and skip the hard part.

Facts matter.
Context matters.
And the charge is never the whole story.

When your future is on the line, you find out very quickly who’s willing to fight for you.

One of the greatest compliments a defense lawyer can receive isn’t about a verdict, a dismissal, or a case result.

It’s hearing a client say:
“This woman showed up for me.”

That’s exactly what Morgan McNabb strives to do for every person who walks through our doors.

We’re grateful for the trust our clients place in us and proud to stand beside them during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

College kids are home for summer. So are the risks.
For young adults, summer freedom can come with real legal consequences.

College students come home used to making their own decisions. That independence is a good thing — until one party, one late-night drive, or one police encounter creates consequences nobody saw coming.

Parents, have the uncomfortable conversation before something happens.

Alcohol
Driving
Ma*****na and THC products
Street racing
Public fights or disorderly behavior
What to say if police get involved

Not every crisis needs to end in handcuffs.

This week, Alyse Ferguson taught at Juvenile Crisis Intervention Training, hosted by Allen Police Department.

Her session focused on mental health law updates and the forms officers can use when a juvenile is in crisis — tools that may help connect a young person with care instead of pushing them deeper into the criminal justice system.

This is the kind of work Alyse has been committed to for years: helping bridge the gap between mental health, law enforcement, and the courts.

Because when a child is in crisis, the response matters.

And when officers have more tools, families have more hope.

Proud of Alyse for helping lead this important conversation in Collin County.

Not every felony accusation becomes an indictment.

Recently, Reynie Tinajero secured a No Bill in a Collin County case involving an allegation of Injury to a Child, a third-degree felony offense.

In Texas, a third-degree felony can carry serious consequences, including 2 to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $10,000.

A No Bill means a grand jury reviewed the evidence and declined to return an indictment, preventing the case from moving forward through the criminal justice system in its current form.

Many people don't realize that some of the most important work in a criminal case happens long before a trial date is ever set. Careful preparation, investigation, and advocacy can play a critical role during the grand jury process.

Charge: Injury to a Child (3rd Degree Felony)
County: Collin County
Result: No Bill

This outcome is an important reminder that allegations alone do not determine the outcome of a case.

👏 Strong work by Reynie.

🚨 Not every witness described the confrontation the same way.

While several witnesses testified they didn’t expect anyone to have a weapon, one witness offered a different account.

According to testimony discussed in court, he believed Karmelo Anthony was holding something in his hand, noticed the veins in his hand, and said he warned Austin Metcalf not to touch him.

Attorney Jeremy Rosenthal explains why small differences in witness testimony can become major points of debate during a criminal trial.

When multiple witnesses remember the same event differently, how much weight should a jury give those differences?

06/09/2026

🚨 One question continues to hang over the entire Karmelo Anthony murder trial:

Why was he carrying a knife at a high school track meet?

During testimony, attorneys discussed the folding utility knife recovered after the incident and the prosecution’s decision to use a replica knife in court. But according to Partner Jeremy Rosenthal, the larger issue may be what comes next.

If Karmelo Anthony takes the witness stand, the jury may finally hear an explanation for why he brought the knife in the first place. That’s a question jurors, attorneys, and the public have been asking since day one.

Do you think the defense needs to answer that question directly?
