When I hear of a possible mistrial …. I’ll always remember the week I spent on trial 6 hours south - in Marion, Williamson County. It was a death case, and I was one of the attorneys representing Williamson County defending a claim that the auto accident was due to the counties negligent placement of a road sign. It was one of my first trials. Many years ago. And I’ll never forget that after closing arguments the jury was sent home to come back the next day to deliberate. I remember that night in my hotel room watching one of my favorite movies “12 angry men”. Well guess what movie the jurors also apparently watched. Yup…. the following day the jury hung due to 1 hold out.  it wasn’t a fun experience at the time given that we were six hours south for an entire week. And on top of that, we had to drive home through a snow blizzard at 20mph for the weekend recess.

Mistrails are not preferred, but regarding the Clancy verdict pending now I bet the defense would welcome one.

Got a cold call from a nice young man who was hit while riding his bike in the bike path in Chicago...fractured his ankle. He told me the other driver was reported as not having insurance. Most would hang up at this point. But, I asked him to send me the police report and I made a few calls and "found" there was a valid insurance policy in place at the time. So, all is not always lost....!!!!

Well, this is nice to hear! Best of 2026! And based not upon application or nomination, but on the feedback of my client...
