She has also handled many business transactions, including multi-million dollar joint ventures and smaller stock and asset purchases. Melissa began her legal career as staff counsel for the Georgia Department of Corrections. In that role, she advised wardens and upper administration on the most appropriate discipline for the Department’s 15,000 employees, primarily in the areas of employment law and enforcement of correctional regulations. She was in private practice in Stockbridge for over 8 years before founding her own firm. While pursuing her law degree at the University of Georgia, Melissa gained valuable experience inside the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission while interning with the EEOC’s Atlanta District Office during her third year of law school. She also completed an internship with the Social Security Administration.
