💡 LEGAL TIP: You need a will if you have adult or minor children from a prior relationship 💡

MYTH: "Since Texas is a community property state, everything automatically goes to my spouse when I die."

REALITY: Not always true! This is one of the most common misconceptions we encounter. If you have children from a prior relationship, Texas law may divide your community property differently than you expect.

📋 Our recommendation: Don't assume. Plan ahead with proper estate planning to ensure your assets go where you want them to go.

Did you know that if trusts are not completely funded with a decedent's assets, you may still have to probate their estate?
Many people assume that simply having a trust drafted means they've avoided probate, but that is not always the case. The trust must be properly funded.

📋 Our recommendation: Have your estate planning documents, trust documents, and asset lists reviewed by an estate planning attorney every 5 years or when you experience a life-changing event (marriage, divorce, birth of children, retirement, move, significant asset changes, etc.) to ensure your estate planning goals are still being met.
