Another youth pastor arrested. Unfortunately churches and church camps have become targets for child s*xual predators. One of the very first s*xual predator cases Tod Mercer handled over twenty years ago involved a youth pastor s*xually assaulting young girls at the church. Fast forward twenty years and many similar cases later, Tod Mercer is still representing victims of s*xual assault by youth pastors, preachers, priests, evangelists, church elders and church camp leaders. These cases used to be rare. Now there is a plethora of cases. Most churches have little to no screening, training or supervision of their volunteers and part-time employees. However churches are responsible for the actions of their employees just like any other business. Laws have little effect on deterring predators. Time to give it up for our first responders. These people do God’s work. They see the worst disasters known to man. When they cannot save lives, they hold their fellow men, women and children in their arms and watch them die. These are special people. And it doesn’t happen without damage to their psychological well being. God bless first responders and pray for their healing.

A special education teacher at Will Rogers elementary school in McAlester has been arrested for allegedly abusing a student. The school district is notifying parents of other special education students that may have been abused. Tod Mercer represents some of the parents of victims involved and is actively investigating the case. ATTENTION PARENTS OF SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS AT WILL ROGERS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in McAlester, Oklahoma. You may not be aware of the following situation.

Tragically, on April 29, 2026 a criminal Information was filed against a McAlester school teacher for Assault and Battery on School Student, a misdemeanor. This is a criminal charge, not a conviction.

The alleged victim is a 10-year-old special needs student. There are possibly more special needs student victims. If you have a student in special education class or with special needs at Will Rogers Elementary School in McAlester, please be aware that your child may also be a victim of assault and battery and you may have a right to pursue civil relief on behalf of your child. We are proud to represent this brave young girl who dared to speak out and expose the hazing incident with the Kingston girls basketball team. Even though it is against the law, hazing is still happening in Oklahoma schools.

After five days of jury trial, we commend our client and trial team on achieving a $2,765,000 jury verdict in Washington County District Court, a testament to our well-deserving client. Ms. Greer suffered an open compound fracture of her leg just above her ankle when she fell from an elevated stage platform at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The jurors and trial judge are greatly appreciated for their time and attention. The trial team consisted of attorneys Cody Hill, Ryan Herring, Matt Guerra, from the law firm Nix Patterson and Tod Mercer.
