Announcement regarding the City of Clear Lake’s large-item pickup program
After much consideration, the City of Clear Lake will no longer offer a semi-annual curbside large-item pickup program. In lieu thereof, The City will now offer this program as a “drop-off” only service at a centralized location for “large items” only.
Although the curbside program served the community well for many years, it was no longer meeting the objectives of the program and the guidelines on accepted items for collection, as well as set-out times, were often violated. Unfortunately, the magnitude of “illegal” dumping and other violations, along with safety concerns for our employees, became routine and enforcing or preventing infractions has become nearly impossible.
The City will offer an opportunity for residents who reside within the Clear Lake City limits to dispose of large items free of charge on the following dates at the Clear Lake Public Works yard waste site location at 1419 2nd Ave S:
Thursday, October 17th from 8 AM to 7 PM
Friday, October 18th from 8 AM to 5 PM
Saturday, October 19th from 8 AM to 1 PM
The following guidelines will apply:
• Proof of residency (ex. Photo ID or City utility bill) within the Clear Lake City
limits will be required in order to drop-off any large-items.
• Trucks larger than a pickup are prohibited in the drop-off.
• You are responsible for unloading the large items from the vehicle.
• Prohibited items include the following: cardboard/recyclables/e-waste; batteries;
propane tanks; gas tanks; concrete; tires; paint; chemicals/pesticides;
glass/mirrors; florescent light bulbs.
The City will provide an option for curbside appliance & TV pickup ONLY on Tuesday, October 15th. Each appliance and/or TV will require a $15 appliance sticker that must be purchased at City Hall before Monday, October 14th at 4:30 PM. Appliances/TVs must be placed at the curb no later than Tuesday, October 15th at 7:00 AM with the stickers attached.
You may also drop off appliances/TVs at the Public Works site during the days and times listed above but must abide by the following guidelines.
• The first two appliances are free for residents to drop off (proof of residency
within the city limits is required).
• The first two TVs are free for residents to drop off.
• Any appliances or TVs in excess of the above will require a $15 sticker to be
purchased at City Hall prior to being dropped off at the Public Works yard waste
site. Stickers must be purchased from City Hall during business hours and prior
to 4:30 PM on Friday, October 18th. Stickers WILL NOT be available for
purchase at the drop off site.
