I suspect this is the back and forth we can all do without. U.S. Department of Treasury has now announced:

"with respect to the Corporate Transparency Act, not only will it not enforce any penalties or fines associated with the beneficial ownership information reporting rule under the existing regulatory deadlines, but it will further not enforce any penalties or fines against U.S. citizens or domestic reporting companies or their beneficial owners after the forthcoming rule changes take effect either."

However Congress passed this law, the Treasury Dept. is merely enforcement.

If you own, or are a member of a business entity (LLC, Corp, PLLC), your Beneficial Ownership Information filing is now due by March 21, 2025.

Yes, you have to file (unless you qualify for an exception), or you will face very hefty daily fines. Don't let that be you.

"With the February 18, 2025, decision by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in Smith, et al. v. U.S. Department of the Treasury, et al., 6:24-cv-00336 (E.D. Tex.), beneficial ownership information (BOI) reporting requirements under the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) are once again back in effect. However, because the Department of the Treasury (Treasury) recognizes that reporting companies may need additional time to comply with their BOI reporting obligations, FinCEN is generally extending the deadline 30 calendar days from February 19, 2025, for most companies."

1. Respite care funds to help caregivers hire a temporary assistant so you can get a well deserved break.

It is true a federal law requires filing a financial report for any beneficiary of a corporate entity (including LLCs). If you wait until after January 1, there are hefty fees to pay.

VRLaw PLLC Attorney Rupa Vickers Russe is attending the NC State Bar's (NC Bar Association/Legal Aid) FEMA claim/appeals and Disaster Unemployment Assistance ("Unemployment Insurance") training today.

She will compile a breakdown of the training so that individual applicants in WNC can have awareness of the process (appeals, etc) from an Attorney perspective, so you can self advocate for yourself if you choose, or are unable to access the assistance of an Attorney.
