Erika L. Goldberg and Rachel T. Savage recently participated in Alice Paul Institute’s annual Girls Leadership Council Mentor Night. Bringing together aspiring young leaders and accomplished women from a variety of professions, the event encourages open conversations about education, careers and personal experiences. Now in her eighth year as a mentor, Goldberg took part in a small-group setting that encouraged meaningful conversations, while Savage joined the program for the first time. The evening helps students build confidence, develop networking skills and explore future opportunities, and remains a program the CKAD team is proud to support each year. Learn more.

Firm partner Karen Rose Karpousis once again traded the courtroom for the classroom last week, participating in the "Classroom to Courtroom" Program in honor of Law Day. Together with CKAD's law clerk Jessica Wilcox and the Honorable Linda A. Galella, they led an interactive lesson for Mr. Soper's 5th grade class on the U.S. Constitution's Three Branches of Government, with a special focus on the Judicial Branch.

The students didn't just learn about the role of the court system, they put their new found knowledge into action. From serving as Supreme Court justices debating whether homework should be banned in schools to acting as jurors in the case of State of New Jersey vs. Gritty, the class spent the morning fully immersed in the judicial process. At the end of the program, students also had the opportunity to ask Judge Galella questions about her experience as a Judge.

Said Karpousis, "Out of all of the community service and Bar Association activities I volunteer for, this is absolutely one of my favorite. Jessica and I enjoyed teaching the class as much as the students enjoyed a day out of school!"
