Have you heard of a Buyer Broker Agreement?
If you’re buying a home, your Realtor may ask you to sign one before you start touring houses.
But don’t let that make you nervous. You’re NOT agreeing to buy a house.
You’re simply agreeing on how you and your Realtor will work together, including how your Realtor will represent you and how they’ll be compensated.
Here’s the part buyers usually have questions about: the agreement does make you responsible for the compensation you’ve agreed to with your Realtor. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be writing your Realtor a check out of pocket.
When we write an offer, we can negotiate for the seller to help cover your buyer broker compensation. Depending on the transaction, the seller or listing broker may also already be offering compensation.
The important thing is that we talk about it upfront, you understand exactly what you’re signing, and there are no surprises later.
It’s really just putting the relationship between you and your Realtor in writing before we start looking for your home. 🏡
