If schools were my number one priority and everything else came second, this is where I would focus my search.
When families ask me where they can find consistently strong public schools and a lifestyle that actually works day to day, two areas come up over and over again: East Cobb and the City of Marietta.
Here’s why.
In East Cobb, many families are specifically targeting school clusters that feed into Walton High School and Pope High School. These schools are consistently top ranked, highly sought after, and located in established neighborhoods where homeowners tend to stay long term. It is one of the biggest reasons East Cobb remains so competitive.
Inside the City of Marietta, families often gravitate toward Marietta City Schools, especially because of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The IB program starts at the elementary level and continues through high school. Parents love the academic rigor, global focus, and the smaller district feel where schools, neighborhoods, and community events are closely connected.
That said, here’s what I always tell clients:
👉 Great schools are not one size fits all.
Some families want the highest test scores.
Others value advanced programs like IB, strong arts or athletics, or a tighter knit school community.
And most want schools plus a reasonable commute, a yard, and a neighborhood that feels like home.
That’s where location really matters.
These areas offer:
✔️ Proven school reputations including Walton, Pope, and Marietta’s IB program
✔️ Neighborhoods where kids grow up together
✔️ Commute options that do not dominate your life
✔️ Homes typically in the $750K to $1.5M range that still feel like a long term win
