June isn't a time for me and Tubbs "to make money". We don’t rainbow-wash for June. We show up year-round for LGBTQ+ people, families, and creatives because that’s the work we’ve done our entire career.

💗Some matters are joyful; others that should be joyful require careful, strategic planning to protect our LGBTQ+ clients and their safety. That's a very real concern even in 2026. We handle all our matters with discretion and clarity, but most importantly: with heart.

We have lots of LGBTQ+ friends. Unfortunately, we have also lost LGBTQ+ friends due to hate.

🤩Who We Help: All Y'all.

LGBTQ+ founders and small businesses

Creatives, performers, and production teams

Trans and nonbinary clients navigating name and gender marker changes

Couples, co‑parents, and chosen families

Adults and minors in adoption proceedings

Artists and brands protecting their trademarks, production deals, licensing, talent agreements, publishing, and tour/appearance contracts.

Some local LGBTQ+ organizations and folx we support:

🏳️‍🌈 Q***r Northshore and Connect-Northshore , two nonprofits in Louisiana

😂LGBTLOL Q***r Comedy Fest and comedian Ryan Rogers

⚖️ Lambda Legal has been instrumental in helping me navigate new terrain in Louisiana and Mississippi through legal avenues.

If you’re building a business, protecting your art, or making sure your chosen family is legally recognized, we’re here. We're in the trenches with you: this month and every month.

There are a few things at my desk that help keep me focused which can be hard for anyone, let alone neurodivergent folks.

🚨I have a light on my water bottle that will blink every half hour until you pick it up. This keeps me hydrated throughout the day because my neurospicy folks know we can hyperfocus and forget the basics.

⏰A Pomodoro timer for 5, 10, 25, and 50 minute increments. There's a visual countdown and it has a very loud alarm that does not stop until it's turned over. It helps me focus AND take breaks.

🤳A Brick device. I block social media apps on my phone on a set schedule. You can't alter the schedule or change any settings while it's Bricked. You have to tap that little square to unlock it. I moved it here for the picture but I keep it behind books. I wish it could block email when I'm at home but hey- maybe in the future.

🩵 My favorite pop culture knick knacks: my man Milhouse and a pigeon. They are just cute.

Do yall have anything you like to use?

It's bittersweet seeing the law school graduation photos rolling in. I remember mine like it was yesterday even though it was apparently 13 years ago.

I had my monkey f***y pack under my robe to hold a snack and my keys. I had lunch after the ceremony and within 2 hours I was changed and coaching CrossFit the rest of the day.

In hindsight, I wished I soaked up the moment a little more. The same can be said for the Louisiana and Mississippi bar swearing in ceremonies: I don't have a photo of either.

So, to the next generation of law students, lawyers, their families, and any other professional degree or milestone moment at work: soak up your moment and take the pictures. Celebrate yourself.

I'm still working on this as I'm always running to the next thing.

But hey- maybe that's why I still (somewhat) look like a youth.

I support local events that mean something to me. I'm very excited to help sponsor Olde Towne Metal Fest 2 in Slidell this weekend, featuring an awesome line up of metal bands from around the Region. From thrash to sludge to just plain ol' metal, there's a band for every taste.

I love supporting local events even more when they pay the talent. The proceeds and sponsorships are distributed amongst the bands performing.

Always in support of the artists, the creatives, and those who lift them up.

🎸Remember: your favorite band once played in their garage and on local stages.

Come see me in Slidell at Saint August Maison with Music At Maison this Saturday. The event is all ages, family friendly, and indoors.

🐾 Pawternity Leave 🐾

Emeryville, California and even Italy are now letting people use paid sick time to take care of their guide dogs and service dogs. The name “pawternity leave” is adorable, sure, but the idea behind it is actually pretty big.

🦮Right now in most of the country, service dogs are still treated like property or equipment, even when they’re doing life‑saving work. Anyone who’s ever met a real service dog knows that’s… well, silly.

⚜️But Louisiana? She's a little different. Our laws already treat service dogs more seriously than in some states (are you shocked?). They get special protections through their handler (White Cane laws), and in courtrooms they’re treated more like working partners than pets lying under the bench.

📃I’ve even written to our courts before explaining that these dogs aren’t just “things" or property. They’re part of a team. They help people access the world. They shoulder responsibilities most humans don’t want before their second cup of coffee (if you are like me then it's a third cup of coffee and a little sweet treat).

So, when cities start giving people time off to care for their working dogs, it’s not just a cute HR trend. It’s another sign that folks are possibly realizing what handlers have known forever; these dogs aren’t property, they’re partners.

For those of us who live and work with service dogs, this shift matters. It brings us a little closer to a world where the rules match reality: you can’t separate a disabled person from the dog who makes daily life possible.

🚨Yall know this is just my little ol' opinion and not even that of Tubbs, employers, or organizations we belong to.

Skeptical Yo-Tubbs and Amby-Wan Kenobi have three things to say:

1. May the Fourth be with you

2. You have friends everywhere

3. Rebellions are built on hope

If you earn income from influencing then it's not just fame and internet trolls that await you. You should remember that your name, face, content, and audience are business assets. And also that everything you do, say, and post can and will be used against you.

That means your brand protection should go beyond posting consistently and doing something because you saw another influencer do it.

Influencers and creators should be thinking about:

®️Trademarking names, slogans, handles, courses, merch lines, and signature phrases

©️Copyright protection for original posts, videos, photos, graphics, and creative content

💫Right of publicity, likeness, and NIL issues

📃Written ambassador and influencer agreements with clear payout terms and who owns the content created for a brand deal

🤑Whether a brand can reuse, edit, register, or monetize your work

🚓FTC, SEC, and advertising compliance (this includes you saying something is the "best" or comparing it to something else!)

After attending the American Bar Association Intellectual Property Law Conference and several sessions on influencer branding and marketing, one thing is clear that we've been knowing: creators are building valuable businesses.

Get your brand ducks in a row before you get too excited about that deal or reuse that song you don't own.

Tubbs and I hope our Jackson friends join us at Jackson State University on June 12, 2026 when we present the 45 minute lecture: "Who Really Owns Your AI? How to Protect Your Brand and Your Ideas".

💻A lot of people think that if they use AI to make a logo or write a story, they automatically own it. But right now, the law says that is not always true. If you aren't careful, your "big idea" might not belong to you. The goal of this talk is to show Mississippi business owners and creators how to use AI the right way so they can own their trademarks and copyrights. We want to make sure that when you build something in the South, you keep the rights to it.

📃Folks who attend will get a free book and handouts from moi. Tubbs may or may not sign copies.

It was an honor to be just one small piece to help usher in a new chapter between The National WWII Museum and Louisiana State Bar Association Intellectual Property Section.

Tubbs and I went from Baton Rouge with LABI straight to New Orleans for the "Navigating IP Issues at Public Cultural Institutions" Round Table CLE.

Moderated by Research Historian (Ph.D. and J.D., by the way) Haley Guepet, the panel of speakers featured a "Who's Who" of art law, copyright, and nonprofit attorneys:

©️Christopher J. Alfieri of Christovich & Kearney LLP

🎨Suzette Toledano of Toledano Entertainment & Arts Law

💻Adam Vickers of Intellectual Property Consulting

The Museum is open to CLE or CEU rentals and we look forward to future IP events for many more years to come. Thank you again to Haley and Jeremy Collins who helped make it possible.

You can view the room we used and specs (seats up to 90ish, but they have options for all sizes and budgets) at: https://www.nationalww2museum.org/events/private-event-rentals/wwii-media-auditorium-rentals

🥂After the event, Pugh Accardo LLC sponsored a happy hour at the top of the Higgins Hotel at Rosie's On The Roof. https://www.higginshotelnola.com/new-orleans-restaurants/rosies-on-the-roof

From the nation’s capitol to Louisiana’s capitol in one week 🇺🇸 As a member of Emerging Leader’s Council, I had the opportunity to attend legislative sessions this week.

What I really love about Louisiana Association of business and industry is that it isn’t ✨just✨ lawyers or big companies involved. Sure, there are, but there’s also very small businesses, childcare development and teachers, banks, and everything in between involved in the council and in committees.

Plus, making new friends and learning about different industries is not just fun but vital to staying informed and continuing to help Louisiana and her residents succeed for generations to come.
