On June 6, 1944, history was forever changed. 🇺🇸

Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and resolve of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy 82 years ago. Their actions secured our freedom for generations and remain a powerful reminder of the cost of liberty. 🗽

We remember their service. We honor their legacy.

Gen. Thomas Carden, vice chief of the National Guard Bureau, delivered keynote remarks at the GDIT Emerge: Battlespace of the Future symposium in Washington, D.C.

As the modern battlespace continues to evolve at lightning speed across multiple domains—land, air, sea, space, and cyber—Gen. Carden emphasized the National Guard’s critical role in homeland defense. "Think of the National Guard as the 'seat belt' for this nation. When things go wrong, when a crisis hits, we are there to absorb the shock, protect our critical infrastructure, and defend the homeland. While simultaneously taking the fight to our adversaries abroad.”

He thanked innovators and industry partners for standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the Guard and challenged them to deliver capabilities at the speed of relevance: "Our ability to innovate rapidly relies entirely on robust partnerships with industry…Our mission is to solve hard problems, together. We need bold leadership. We need partnerships."
