As we move from Thanksgiving into the rest of the holiday season, we’re mindful that this time of year is not easy for everyone.
Many Massachusetts employees face layoffs, reorganizations, or year-end decisions about severance and unemployment benefits.

If you’ve been given a severance agreement, take the time to have it reviewed before signing.
If you’re preparing a DUA unemployment claim or appeal, remember that a denial can be challenged and often should be. No one is obligated to navigate these issues alone or under pressure.

For employees dealing with workplace discrimination or retaliation, year-end is also when many decide whether to file with MCAD. We assist with evaluating whether an MCAD filing is appropriate, understanding deadlines, and determining the best course of action before any complaint is submitted.

We’re here to help employees understand their rights, negotiate severance when possible, address DUA matters, and review potential MCAD issues with clear, practical guidance.

We’re grateful to the clients who trusted us this year, and we wish everyone a steady, healthy start to 2026.

Since summer, our team has succesfully won eight of nine appeals of unemployment benefits denials for Massachusetts clients.
Only 43% of Massachusetts unemployment appeals succeeded in overturning denials of benefits for the period of July 2024-June 2025 (U.S. Dept. of Labor, June 2025 data). Each success reminds us that persistence and preparation can change an outcome.
As Thanksgiving and year’s end approach, we’re grateful for the trust our clients place in us, and for the work that keeps proving fairness still has room in the process.

Supporting HAVEN NH: Changing Lives Gala 2025

On October 16, we attended the Haven New Hampshire Changing Lives Gala, an annual event supporting the state’s largest r**e crisis center and domestic violence shelter.

For the second year in a row, our firm was honored to be part of an evening that brings awareness, funding, and hope to survivors throughout the Seacoast region. HAVEN’s prevention and education programs reach deep into communities, helping break cycles of abuse and empowering individuals to rebuild their lives in safety and dignity.

We’re proud to stand behind their mission and the vital work they do every day.

Q: How long does the MCAD or EEOC process take?
A: It often takes 2-3 years for these agencies to reach a final outcome.

The process is generally free, and you can file without a lawyer. But there are tradeoffs.

These systems move slowly, deadlines can be missed, and key facts may not be fully presented, especially without legal help.

⚖️ We represent clients at all stages, including after a charge has been filed.

Sometimes we can still help negotiate severance or guide the case toward resolution while it’s pending.

➡️ If you're facing discrimination or retaliation, reach out early.

Even if you're already in the system, we may still be able to help.

If you were wrongfully fired or experienced discrimination at work, Massachusetts gives you 300 days from the last act of discrimination to file with MCAD.
