The Department of Homeland Security designated Afghanistan for Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Afghan citizens present in the U.S. as of March 15, 2022, may be eligible.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today announced the designation of Afghanistan for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months. Only individuals who are already residing in the United States as of March 15, 2022, will be eligible for TPS.

The U.S. Consulate in Ukraine has announced that immigrant visa cases for Ukrainian citizens will be transferred to the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany. This includes fiance(e) K-1 visas, as well as all permanent residence cases except for adoption and diplomatic cases. Adoption and diplomatic cases will remain with the U.S. Consulate in Warsaw, Poland at this time.

Federal court invalidates Trump H-1B rule inflating minimum qualifying wage that would have disqualified many non-profits, small businesses, and recent grads from becoming eligible for the H-1B program. Notably, the court did not state that the administration cannot change the rules, but that the Trump acting secretary was not lawfully appointed, so any rules he enacted are also unlawful.
