Most recently Fernando argued before the Texas Supreme Court representing cotton farmers in an arbitration dispute, and serves as lead co-counsel representing the interests of over 200 farmers who successfully filed an involuntary bankruptcy petition against an agricultural processing plant and brokered a settlement involving over $25 million in claims. In his receivership practice, Fernando has served as receiver for the SEC in a case involving over 250 investor victims and a $40 million loss. Fernando is the former Chairman of the Court Advisory Committee for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, and clerked for the Honorable Sam R. Cummings, United States District Judge. Since 2000 he has also served as an adjunct professor at the Texas Tech University School of Law, teaching civil rights, client counseling and negotiations.
