KJA President Chris Rhoads announced a leadership transition for the Kentucky Justice Association today.

After more than 30 years of dedicated leadership, Maresa Taylor Fawns will transition from the day-to-day leadership of KJA and continue serving the association as Chief Lobbyist. We are grateful for her lasting impact, steady leadership, and unwavering commitment to protecting the Seventh Amendment.

Griffin Link Gillis has been named the association’s next Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2027.

Please join us in celebrating both Maresa’s incredible legacy and Griffin’s new leadership as KJA continues building for the future.

234 years ago, the Bill of Rights promised protections for all—not just for the wealthy and powerful.

At the heart of that promise is the 7th Amendment right to a trial by jury—the cornerstone of civil justice that gives Americans a voice and a path toward justice.

Today, we carry that promise forward. When powerful corporations deny justice, we push back. When rights are threatened, we stand up.

Because access to justice belongs to everyone.

After 28 years of dedicated service, we celebrated Pat Edelen on the occasion of her retirement during last week’s 2025 KJA Annual Convention and Judicial Forum.

As KJA’s longtime Publications Director, Pat led our marketing, produced The Advocate, and brought countless projects to life with her skill, creativity, and care. More than that, she was a colleague, listener, and friend to all.

We’ll miss her humor, good nature, and sharp eye for detail. But, we’re excited for the next chapter filled with golf, pickleball, and tea parties with her great-granddaughter.

Thank you, Pat, for everything. We will miss you!
