I wanted to pass along a program that could be a big help to homeowners who have needed repairs but may not have had an affordable way to tackle them.

Louisville Metro’s Office of Housing & Community Development is funding a Home Repair Access Loan Program, administered through LHOME. The program is designed to help low- and moderate-income homeowners make essential repairs to their homes.

Eligible repairs can include things like roofs, gutters, HVAC systems and other necessary home repairs.

Here are some of the important details:

• Loans are available up to $24,999
• Fixed 4% interest rate
• Terms up to 7 years
• No application fee
• No credit check
• No origination fee
• Free radon testing is included
• Homeowners with traditional credit challenges are encouraged to apply

For an example of affordability, a $10,000 loan is approximately $137 per month over seven years.

This program is funded through a Community Development Block Grant from Louisville Metro and is the city’s first CDBG-funded home repair revolving loan pool. Funding is available now.
