Attention drivers.

There is a new law in Kentucky regarding stopping for school and church buses with the stop arm out. You have to stop in either direction unless there is a median or barrier between lanes. You must stop even if there is a turning lane between the lanes.

SCAM WARNING UPDATE: Scammers are targeting the families of literally every single person arrested in Jefferson County. Any unsolicited telephone call seeking bail money is fraudulent. No official from the court or the jail will ever reach out facilitating bail payment over the phone. Bonds must be posted in-person at the courthouse. They cannot be paid over the phone. The only forms of payment accepted are a debit/credit card, cash or certified check. Bitcoin, gift cards and other digital payment methods are not accepted.

There have been some scams going on. I get lots of questions from clients regarding texts received from the “District Court” or Department of Transportation.

There is one calling loved ones from recent arrested individuals stating they can post bond over the phone. Thats a scam. Kentucky courts always require the surety to post the bond in person with an ID.

What should you do if you get a traffic ticket?

Today there are several options for traffic tickets which may avoid points on your license or get the case dismissed. Usually paying the ticket before court is not the best option. Sending in payment is a plea of guilty to the charge and points will be assessed to your license and reported to your insurance company. If you receive a ticket give me a call (502-541-4267) to discuss your options. If you hire me to represent you I will probably be able to handle the matter without you appearing in court and get the best option possible.

I had a bench trial scheduled today on a speeding (26 or higher) and reckless driving ticket. Officer did not show up (on vacation) for the trial. My client who contested the speed the officer claimed he was going got his ticket dismissed. I have a perfect record in these type of situations.
