TIP of the day! Yes, set your clocks back 1 hour and PLEASE change the batteries in your smoke detectors! Friday we were at a very nice ranch style home doing an inspection. I (Dana) was the only person on the house (buyer, agent, septic guy, and my brother David L Millard was outside). I flipped lights and water on on the main floor of the home and started my inspection. Bryan doing the septic came in, went in the basement (flipped lights on downstairs), checked something briefly and went back outside. Within minutes, I could smell burning on the main floor and could see smoke in the front room. Not seeing anything evident, I had everyone inside searching with me. David discovered a balister light in the basment ceiling was smoking and heating up quickly. Being an electrician for 25+ years, he quickly took it down to prevent further issues. To make matters worse, there were NO smoke detectors on the main floor and the only one the home at the basement stairs did not work! PLEASE today, take a minute and check your smoke detectors to assure they are working properly!

One of the things we hear way to often is "oh! I didn't know you covered that area!" Well, we do! Here is a great example of what our day looked like yesterday! We traveled to Mansfield (even stopped briefly at the Reformatory!), then to Medina, to Akron, and finally to Cleveland (Brookpark). Our day Thursday started out in East Liverpool. We do cover quite a bit of area in Ohio. If you are unsure if we are able to do an inspection in the area you are in or would like to buy in, please feel free to reach out to us!

So thank you to Yoder collision in louisville for fixing the Millard Home Inspection van after an unfortunate incident with a deer. Now off to CEI in Canal Fulton to repair the wrap.

Turned the bathtub on at an inspection the other day and it started raining in the living room. Another reason to not skip the inspections. Had the client moved in and taken a full shower the damaged could have been significantly worse.
