Kentucky's legislature just passed two bills, HB 568 and HB 355, that effectively ban public adjusters from negotiating insurance claims on behalf of policyholders.
Public adjusters work on contingency for ordinary homeowners who cannot afford an attorney for a $40,000 claim dispute. They exist because that gap exists. These bills eliminate them.
As an attorney who has handled policyholder disputes for years, I have regularly referred cases to public adjusters when the claim did not justify attorney rates but the policyholder still needed an advocate. I know what this profession does for ordinary Kentuckians.
Kemper Law Office currently represents a group of Kentucky-licensed public adjusters and believes strong legal grounds exist to challenge these laws. If your livelihood is affected, initial consultations are free.
