Got this letter today naming us one of the “Top 3 Personal Injury Law Firms” in St. Matthews.

We didn’t pay to “win” it, so I’ll just post a picture of the letter and call it a day. 😅

That said, for our small firm to consistently outrank bigger ones based on actual client reviews - that part *does* mean something.

Thanks to all of our clients who trust us with the hard stuff. We see you.

Something we're seeing more often in domestic cases: clients realizing their spouse has been tracking their location, monitoring their location via spending habits, or accessing their photos without permission. The tools that made life convenient as a couple can become problematic during a divorce. If something feels off, here are a few of the first places to check.

1. Vehicle Apps 🚗 Modern cars (Tesla, OnStar, Land Rover, etc.) have apps that track your location and trips. Change passwords and separate accounts.

2. Photo Metadata 📸 Your photos contain hidden location data. Turn off location services for your camera and review who has access to iCloud Photos, Google Photos, or Amazon Photos.

3. Smart Home Devices 🏠 Alexa, Ring doorbells, and Nest cameras can track your comings and goings. Update passwords and remove shared access.

4. Hidden Trackers 📍 AirTags, Tiles, and GPS devices can be tucked into bags, cars, or personal items. Check your belongings and consider a vehicle sweep. (Does your pet have a GPS tag on his/her collar?)

5. Social Media Settings 💬 Venmo transactions, location tags on Instagram, and Facebook check-ins can reveal where you are. Set everything to private and review your settings regularly.

📌 BBO Law Office Hours – Thanksgiving Week Edition 🦃

Here’s what our office schedule looks like this week:

Monday: Open | 8 AM – 4 PM (Normal hours)
Tuesday: Open | 8 AM – 4 PM (Some staff working remotely)
Wednesday: Open | 8 AM – 4 PM (Very limited staff)
Thursday: Closed – Happy Thanksgiving!
Friday: Technically “closed” – but if you squint, you might spot Nolia or Katie working quietly in the distance. 👀

To be safe, assume we’re not in Friday ... unless you’ve made arrangements or hear otherwise. Team availability is all over the place this week:

✅ Who's out?
– Tim: Wednesday through Friday
– Katie: At least Thursday
– Jo: Thursday and Friday (she laughed when I asked if we’re open Friday… so that’s a no 😂)
– Elizabeth: Wednesday through Friday
– Nolia: I'm making this post so... TBD.

We’ll be back in full force Monday morning, ready to hit the ground running. Wishing you and yours a joyful, restful holiday. 💛

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, you are not alone. Help is available.

📞 The Center for Women and Families Crisis Line: 502-581-7222 (24/7)

📞 National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233 (24/7)

🏛️ Domestic Violence Intake Center (DVIC)
Louis D. Brandeis Hall of Justice

Important reminder: Many survivors delay leaving abusive situations because they're worried about their pets. Kentucky law now allows judges to include pets in protective orders. If you're concerned about the safety of your companion animals, let us know - we can help protect your whole family.

We handle Emergency Protective Orders (EPOs), Domestic Violence Orders (DVOs), and Interpersonal Protective Orders (IPOs). We're here to help you navigate the legal process and protect yourself and those you love.

If you need legal assistance, call us at 502-509-9407 or visit www.bbo-law.com .

You deserve to be safe. 💜

📌 Office Hours Update

Just a reminder that our office is now technically closed ALL DAY on Fridays so our team of lawyers can focus on case prep, hearings, and playing catch-up behind the scenes. (Elizabeth and Jo are OFF on Fridays for the summer. They don't want you calling and complaining and messing it up for them.) So if you call and don’t reach us, we promise we’ll return messages the following week.

But, the attorneys are here for at least part of the day. Call our direct lines, email, text, smoke signal... you know the drill.

💬 In the meantime…
If you’ve been wanting one of our (slightly infamous) mugs, we just got a fresh batch in! Huge shout out to local seller Jeff Renshaw for the fab mugs. Feel free to stop by Monday–Thursday during business hours to pick one up—while they last!

We believe everyone deserves access to justice — no matter their means. That’s why we support the incredible work of Legal Aid Society, whose team fights every day to protect the rights of vulnerable Kentuckians.

We were recently surprised and honored to receive this small token of appreciation after contributing to their mission last year. The real thanks goes to Legal Aid and all the advocates working to break down barriers to justice in our community.

☀️ Summer Hours Update! ☀️

To allow our staff to make the most of summer, we’ll be adjusting our office hours starting this Friday! Through at least the end of June, we’ll be closing at noon on Fridays to give our team a little extra time to recharge.

Our regular office hours remain Monday – Thursday 8 - 4, and of course we’ll be back each Monday ready to serve you. While our office will officially close early on Fridays, attorneys may in many cases still be reachable via email for urgent matters over the weekend.

But if our clients know they need something heading into the weekend, we encourage you to reach out as early as possible in the week. Thanks for allowing us to serve you, and we hope you all also get to enjoy some sunshine and slower afternoons this season! 🌿
