Sometimes you will see people riding dirt bikes on the roadways in Kentucky and, generally speaking, dirt bikes do not have the features described above that is required by Kentucky law for use on a roadway.

If we were driving in the mountains, near the sea or next to a cliff, we would be more careful and watch our speed because the steepness of the edge of the roadway grabs our attention. However, we do not have the same appreciation for the danger of driving our car, truck or motorcycle near trees. The reality is that vehicles running into trees kill more people than water or high elevations. Trees are anchored into the ground and, for the most part, do not move when struck by a vehicle. We would do well to appreciate the danger of running into a tree just like we appreciate the danger of driving in the mountains or near the sea.
