We are honored to share that our late partner, Bart Greenwald, received the Pro Bono Service Award from the Legal Services Corporation at its July 20, 2026, reception.

Bart helped establish the Louisville chapter of Project HELP (Homeless Experience Legal Protection) in 2015 through his leadership and collaboration with the Legal Aid Society. Through the Greenwald Family Endowment, he also created permanent funding for a Brandeis School of Law summer fellow to work with Project HELP each year. His dedication to this initiative and his fundraising efforts, has left a lasting legacy that will continue to benefit the Legal Aid Society and our community for years to come.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Susan Duncan, Executive Director of the Kentucky Bar Foundation, who received the Champion of Justice Award from the Legal Services Corporation at the same reception. Susan has been instrumental in expanding access to justice for all Kentuckians facing legal challenges by strengthening pro bono initiatives across the state and supporting the organizations that provide these vital legal services.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our founding partner and dear friend, Bart Greenwald.

From the beginning, Bart helped shape not only the vision of our firm, but the values that continue to guide us: integrity, excellence, professionalism, and genuine commitment to others. A highly respected attorney and dedicated community leader, his impact extended far beyond his legal career. He was a passionate advocate for access to justice for all, a generous mentor, and a trusted colleague and friend to many, in addition to being a devoted family man.

Bart will be remembered for his intellect and warmth along with the meaningful connections he built throughout his life and work. His legacy lives on in the culture he helped create at Duncan Galloway Greenwald PLLC, the people he inspired, and the community he so profoundly served.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife Deborah, his son Walker, and all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.
